Patrick Brown claimed: “They keep on signing new contracts for energy we don't need”
Fact: We suspended Large Renewable Procurement last fall and have ended the FIT program.
Patrick Brown claimed: “Not only are we going to build 100,000 new childcare spaces, we’re going to help families actually afford it...”
Fact: Our government made this commitment in our Throne Speech in 2016, and repeated the commitment in our 2017 Budget. We’ve already made strong strides towards our commitment by creating 56,000 licenses child care spaces over the last three years alone. What did Patrick Brown do? Vote against both opportunities he had to support us in creating more affordable child care spaces.
Patrick Brown claimed: “There’s the 403. They repaved the 403 every 2 years instead of every 15 years.”
Fact: In 2007, 59% of provincial pavements were classified as being in good repair – that number is now nearly 80%. In 2007, 69% of our provincial bridges were classified as being in good repair – that number is now 85%.

Patrick Brown claimed: “But you’re abandoned – you’re abandoned in this province when it comes to having the courage to confront a disorder of – of the brain…”
Fact: We continue to make mental health a priority by improving Ontarians’ access to mental health and addictions services. We are already investing $2 billion for mental health community support services and hospitals - and just last month we announced that we will be expanding psychotherapy programs across the province, which will support more than 100,000 people with depression and anxiety.
Patrick Brown claimed: “They paid the consultants more than they actually sold [ONTERA] for”
Fact: Deloitte and Touche said the sale of ONTERA resulted in an approximate positive financial impact of $96 million.
Patrick Brown claimed: “Since 2009 we have given away $6 billion in surplus energy”
Fact: We’ve seen this one from Patrick Brown before. The last time the provincial Conservatives were in power, they spent $900 million importing electricity over two years just to keep the lights on. Given our position of strength, Ontario is a net exporter now, benefitting ratepayers to the tune of $236 million in 2016.

Patrick Brown claimed: “Power executives were expensing items like raccoon traps and scuba gear”
Fact: Every single one of these expenses was completely unacceptable and has been repaid. One generator responsible for two-thirds of ineligible costs was fined an additional $10 million.
Patrick Brown claimed: “Wynne said there is no waste in government”
Fact: For Brown, we know what waste means. On page 76 of Patrick Brown’s campaign document, he outlines $12.275 billion in cuts to programs and services that will hurt Ontario families. These cuts will directly impact healthcare, education, and cut funding towards repairing schools, hospitals, and social housing.
We’re balancing the budget this year and in the years that follow, and at the same time our government has the lowest per capita program spending in the country. And we know that ‘waste’ is just conservative language for cuts.
Patrick Brown claimed: “22.5% tax cut for middle class”
Fact: This is Patrick Brown's signature promise, and it is patently false. There isn’t a single person in Ontario who will actually see a 22.5% reduction in their personal income tax. That's because Patrick Brown is not factoring in the fact that we have a progressive income tax system, which has multiple income brackets. All Patrick Brown is talking about is a 22.5% cut in the rate of one bracket. And he's also not factoring in the increased costs because of his new, more expensive carbon tax. So when you look at what he's putting forward, it’s only about half of the equation, and it’s deceptive.
