Fact: Brown’s claim rings hollow given his party’s promise to vote against a higher minimum wage. He has also refused to say when or if he’d introduce a higher minimum wage.

Fact: This is false. Over the last 5 years, homecare has seen annual investments ranging from increases of 4% – 7%, and Long Term Care has seen increases between 2% - 3% annually.

Patrick Brown Claimed: “Their priority is over administration rather than front line care”

Fact: For the latest year recorded, CIHI has reported Ontario’s health administration cost at 5.6%. Patrick Brown has previously stated the “gold standard” for a health system “would be between 5-6%”. Today, within the Ministry of Health there are 3,000 less employees and the number of managers has decreased by nearly 10% since 2003.

Patrick Brown Claimed: “They have underfunded our hospitals”

Fact: We’ve increased our investments in health each and every year, allowing us to treat more patients, provide better care and reduce wait times to some of the shortest in the country. This year’s balanced Budget provided an $11.5 billion increase in healthcare funding – including a $7 billion booster shot over the next three years. It also included over $500 million in funding – over half-a-billion dollars – in Ontario’s hospitals to support vital services, keep wait times low, and maintain access to elective surgeries.
