Fact: National Bank, Paul Boothe and the Independent Financial Accountability Officer have all confirmed that Ontario’s budget is balanced.

Fact: There were almost 20,000 new jobs created in Ontario last month. Ontario’s unemployment rate has been below the national average for the last 26 months. And today the Premier was proud to announce that Amazon would be hiring an additional 200 people in Ontario.

Fact: Site Selection—a magazine of corporate expansion and economic development – found that Ontario is the most competitive province in Canada. They gave their Canadian Competitiveness Award to the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Growth.
Patrick Brown claimed: “The mighty Ontario that used to help the rest of the country, now is going to receive equalization payments”
Fact: In 2016-17 Ontario paid $6.9 billion into the equalization program and only received $2.3 billion from it. In addition, according to the Mowat Centre, “Ontarians have consistently contributed more to the federal government in total tax revenue than they have received in federal spending in return.”
Fact: Ontario is a leader in the Federation having created more jobs (118,000) in the last 11 months than any other province
Patrick Brown claimed: “we fired 1600 nurses in the last 2 years in Ontario”
Fact: Not true. As the independent College of Nurses of Ontario clearly states, there were almost 3,000 net-new nursing positions in Ontario last year.
Let’s not forget the Conservatives are also the ones who campaigned on firing 100,000 workers, which included health care professionals like nurses.
