Patrick Brown claimed: "Ontario has officially become a have-not jurisdiction; the numbers speak for themselves, the once-mighty Ontario now receives equalization payments"
Fact: In 2016-17 Ontario paid $6.9 billion into the equalization program and only received $2.3 billion from it. According to the Mowat Centre "Ontarians have consistently contributed more to the federal government in total tax revenue than they have received in federal spending in return".
Patrick Brown claimed: "[Their plan] misses the business community though"
Fact: Wrong. We expanded the Industrial Conservation Initiative to make even more companies eligible for savings up to 1/3 off their bills. The Northern Industrial Electricity Rate Program provides an approx. 25% decrease for eligible large northern industrials. The Industrial Electricity Incentive program provides further support. And we’re eliminating the Debt Retirement Charge for commercial, industrial and all other electricity users next spring. On top of this, 500,000 small businesses and farms will also benefit from our new Fair Hydro Plan.

Patrick Brown claimed: "This week the Liberal Minister of Economic Development said, I quote, we’re leading the country in job creation but actually B.C., Manitoba and Quebec have lower unemployment rates"
Fact: We are leading in job creation, in just the last 6 months Ontario has created more jobs than any other province
Patrick Brown claimed: “Our net debt-to-GDP ratio is now projected to grow to 41%”
Fact: It’s not, as of this February it was 38.6% and projected to fall because Ontario’s economy is growing and the budget will be balanced.
Patrick Brown claimed: "The day after the Premier’s announcement the Liberals accepted over 1100 applications to hand out more of these overpriced deals"
Fact: Brown's own Energy Critic has already admitted this claim is "inaccurate." It's just not true - no new contracts were signed. This was the deadline for participants to withdraw applications to FIT 5. This is very, very clear on the IESO’s website.
Patrick Brown claimed: "You look at the major infrastructure promises: Scarborough subway, promise made promise broken"
Fact: Literally just the day before this speech the Minister of Transportation re-affirmed the Province’s commitment to the Scarborough Subway
Patrick Brown claimed: "We now spend more on interest every year than hospitals, transit or our children’s future"
Fact: Not even close, we spend a total of $82 Billion on healthcare, transportation, education and children’s services and $10.9 Billion on interest.
